I received a great compliment this week. One of my guests said you sell memories, not just a guided fishing trip.
I’ve always approached my day with this in mind. I want to know what you want to do (and not what I want to do), and then try to deliver the best experience possible. Some times it works out, other times it doesn’t. What remains constant is effort and the pursuit of fun. After all, fishing is meant to be fun.
So, how was the fishing? It was definitely a week of transitioning from red salmon to pink and silver salmon. The action wasn’t red hot, but it picked up each day.

I started the week fishing with old friends from Minnesota. That’s Fast Eddy, Janelle, Jody, and Dave.

The next day was the official beginning of Blinn Week #1. I sure enjoyed the family time with Ben, Katie, Sallie, and Benjamin.

We ended up with a mixed bag of red, pink, and silver salmon.

The following day I fished with Jeremy, Brock, Tyler, and Carlos. I inadvertently forgot to take a group photo, but half way through cleaning their catch I remembered to take this.

Later that day, I took Carlos, Laura, Carlos Jr., and Susanna out for a boat ride. Since there were lots of fish in the river, we stayed out just long enough for Carlos Jr. and Susanna to catch a pink salmon. They are the perfect fish to introduce children to fishing. What great family memories and with dad taking plenty of video too!

The following day I fished with Carlos, Sean, Jamie, and Christianne. We caught several silvers, and a bunch of pinks. That’s Carlos with the nicest silver of the day.

Can’t forget this. Sean caught the second chum salmon ever in my boat. It surprised all of us.

Book ends.
I ended the week fishing the same crew I started the week with. Here’s Janelle with the largest silver of the day.

And here’s the final tally. Not a bad mix of red, silver, and pink salmon. Thanks Ed, Janelle, Dave, and Jody for an enjoyable couple of days on the water. See you all next year!
For the week ahead, I expect the silver and pink salmon fishing to get better and better. That’s good because the red salmon run is clearly past it’s peak.
Come back next week for a new fishing report.
*thank you Francis for the use of the sockeye sunset photo.
