Today, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced the closure of the Kenai River king salmon fishery beginning Wednesday.
It will not reopen.
This is a necessary move in protecting returning king salmon, and increasing fishing opportunities for the future.
If you’re coming up between now and the end of July, we’ve got a great plan B. The red salmon are starting to return en masse.
Long live the kings.
