It was only a hiccup.
Based on how last week ended, I was worried that this week would be tough fishing.
It wasn’t.
The silver salmon fishing was steady every day, and the overall quality was impressive. It made for a great week to be on the river.

Blinn Week 3 started out with Steve, Kipp, Jeff, and JoRay.

The next day it was Chuck, Kipp, and Steve. Thanks for the hot breakfast, guys…

On Wednesday, I had a light boat due to a rescheduled halibut trip. That left me and Steve fishing the river. Once again, he proved that the lucky yellow rain pants are indeed lucky. This wasn’t the only day he wore them. Steve and his pants fished four days with me this year and everyday he caught his limit of silver salmon.

The yellow pants day was swapped out the following day for a yellow jacket. Same results. That’s Griff, David (yellow jacket), Mark, and Clifford.

The final day of Blinn Week 3 was a fun one. The fish boxes were already packed at the processor, so the focus was not on harvesting, but on fishing. After everyone caught an early morning silver, we broke out the spinning rods and chased pink salmon in the slow water, back channels. Although the pink salmon run is past peak, there were plenty of fish to give my back and arms a work out netting fish. Thanks Dave, Neal, Benton, and Griff for the “walk off home run” kind of a day.

The moose streak continues…
I usually end the blogpost with a forecast for the fishing week ahead. Instead, something a bit different. It’s been a challenging business year, so Jane and I would like to express our deep appreciation to Gary Blinn and his crew. Your business is valued, but your friendships means even more to us.
See you next week.
