It’s September and that means one thing on the Kenai River: the silver salmon limit goes to three. If you like to harvest silvers, this is the month you’ll want to be here.

I started my guiding week fishing with Kate, Chuck, and Jane. If you think the tall guy in the back looks familiar you would be correct. Chuck was part of Blinn Week 3, and he extended his stay when his wife Kate came to join him. I’m glad they did. Jane and I always look forward to spending time on and off the water with both of them.
Chuck will tell you his lucky fishing hat was the reason why we limited out in less than two hours. Ahhh, no… Having more women than men in the boat is the reason why we finished so fast…
The next day wasn’t as fast.
Joining me on this day was Jeff, Brian, and Wally of ABC Seamless. I’ve been fishing with these guys for nearly 15 years and really enjoy my time on the water with them. We’ve had better days, and worse days, but what made this trip memorable is we caught the Kenai Grand Slam. The Kenai Grand Slam is catching a king, a red, a silver, and a pink all in the same day. A rare feat indeed.
The next day I fished the rest of the ABC Seamless crew. In my boat I had James, Parker, and Zach. The rest of these guys fished with another guide, but decided they should be part of this picture. On a slow day, five silver salmon felt pretty good. Thanks Jeff and Brian, always a lot of fun fishing with your crew.
I finished the week fishing the Alpha Roofing and Construction crew. Fishing wasn’t hot, but at least we doubled the catch from last year. Bryce, thanks for booking your crew again. We appreciate your business.
What’s better than one moose swimming in the river?
Two moose swimming in the river!
My guiding season is starting to wind down. I do have a few trips scheduled, but no more full weeks of guiding. That means I’ll have more time to take Jane out fishing. She has a knack for catching large silvers, so I look forward to that.
See you next week.
