All she does is catch big fish…
It was a decent week of silver salmon fishing on the Kenai River. That is, until Saturday. We were rolling along nicely until we weren’t anymore. Sorry, Jerry, Donna, and Leslie. It just wasn’t our day (nor anyone else’s unfortunately).
Now, on to the good stuff.

My first guided trip this past week was with the Quay’s. From left to right are Susan, Walter, and Jess. Our fall silver trips are becoming an annual event and I really enjoy it. A great family, with great conversations. What’s not to like about that?

The next three days, Jane and I fished with our neighbors. For only fishing for a few hours in the afternoon, the action has been good. From left to right are Jane, Nancy, and Mary (Dan opted out of the photo).

To quote Rod, “Mary is the queen of fatties.” How true.

Another sunny afternoon of silver action with the neighbors.

Followed by another day of action. If you notice, Jane is not in this photo. She was replaced by our friend, Leslie.

Here’s Leslie with a beautiful Kenai silver salmon.

Time for the big game report.
It wasn’t just moose that I saw this week. This young bull caribou decided the grass in our yard was to his liking.

Of course you know I saw more moose. If you look close, there are two bull moose.
Next week will be the last of scheduled guided fishing trips (unless my phone starts to ring). With the largest tide of the month happening on September 19th, I plan on taking the dock out then. That means my boat will be on trailer, and I’ll have to use a boat launch when I go fishing. Inconvenient, yes, but as long as the salmon run continues, I’ll want to be out there.
Come back next week for a new fishing report.
