Whenever we’re helping guests put together an Alaskan fishing adventure, we always recommend adding a saltwater trip in Homer.
The two captains we recommend are Boo Kandas and Mike Wheat. Most of you reading this have fished with either one of them or even both.
Last week, Mike, his son Ryan, and Oliver (Boo’s son) were snowmobiling near Moose Pass. All experienced riders, Ryan hit an unforeseen stump which sent him airborne 30 feet. He was injured to the point he needed to be medevacked by helicopter to Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
The details of his accident and an interview with the Wheat family can be found here.
There’s no doubt Ryan has a long road to recovery. To help defray ongoing medical costs, the family has set up a GoFundMe account which can be found here.
