This will be a limited fishing report for two reasons. The river is blown out making fishing nearly impossible, and Jane and I took time off to celebrate the nuptials between our son, Mac, and Addie.

This past week an unprecedented natural event happened when the Snow and Skilak glacier dams both burst and dumped water into the Kenai River. This event happens every two to three years, but never at the same time. The double release resulted in flooding and terrible fishing conditions.
However, prior to the rising waters, Jane and I went fishing. Jane caught her first silver salmon of the year. It’s been a busy season for the both of us which has meant little time fishing together. This was only the second time we were on the river together since July.

I was excited that Jane caught a salmon, but the highlight of the week was a wedding celebration for Mac and Addie. The two of them eloped to Chicago on September 5th and hosted a friends and family celebration on September 16th.
Congrats you two, and welcome to the family Addie.
For the week ahead
Since the river has crested and has dropped several feet, I anticipate the fishing to be decent this week.
Come back next Sunday to see if I’m right.
