Striker Brand-Fishing Outerwear, Apparel, and Accessories

January 26, 2025 //  by beavercreek

I spend most of my time outside. Wearing proper clothing is a must.

Ten years ago I was looking to replace my ice fishing parka/bib system. Striker Brand was the new kid on the block and advertised a feature that no other outdoor clothing manufacturer offered at the time…their parka and bib floats.

I was sold.

No need to bring a separate life jacket while out on the ice.

Since then, I have worn my Striker clothing in some of the most miserable winter conditions imaginable. I’ve stayed warm, dry, and looked good while recreating. It definitely has stood the test of time,

That leads me to the point of this blogpost. I’ve been on the hunt this year to find a comfortable personal flotation device while I’m wearing chest waders on the Kenai River. A traditional life vest is fine, but it can be bulky and restrictive. A CO2 cartridge life vest is a less bulky alternative, but it has limitations. Namely, accidental deployment of the flotation air bag. At $20 a pop, it gets costly replacing CO2 cartridges.

Striker recently came out with a product called the Shield Float Vest. I contacted a representative at the company and asked if I would float if I wore their vest under my chest waders. He assured me I would have no problems staying above the water.

Feeling comfortable with the response, I decided to order the Shield Float Vest. Now that I’ve seen it in person, I’m impressed with the quality and functionality of the vest. About the only issue I can foresee this summer is I might get too warm on a sunny July afternoon.

During my conversation with the Striker representative I mentioned that my wife and I own a cabin rental and fishing guide service in Alaska. Unsolicited I was told I could offer our guests a 20% discount on any order from their company.

As my dad would say, “that’s a heckuva deal!”

If you are interested in getting a 20% discount, please get a hold of me at info@beavercreekcabins.com and I will share the code with you.
