I often wonder if salmon think about me as much as I think of them.
I wonder no more. There’s an app for that.
The Fish App, brought to you by the fine people at Garmin Electronics, was developed to increase the average anglers catch rate by an astonishing 61%.
The creator of the app, Lirpa Sloof, said the idea came from listening to frustrated coworkers lament about how terrible they were at catching fish. It didn’t take long for Sloof to put two and two together.
“I figured the best way to catch more fish is to think like a fish”, said Sloof. “The Fish App will revolutionize the sport like EV’s did for the auto industry. It’s truly the next step.”
Some of the user friendly features include:
- Fish-Epathy Mode (patent pending) which allows insight to what schools of fish are thinking and where they want to go
- solunar tables listing peak feeding times
- lure and color selector
- location identification of your targeted species
- Desperation Mode, when you literally tried everything but the kitchen sink
It also has a feature that will notify an angler when happy hour begins at the local watering hole.
The Fish App alone is extremely effective at increasing an angler’s succes rate. However, if the app is paired with the companion Garmin Livescope, often referred to as the Cheatmaster 3000 Fish Eliminator, no fish will be safe.

No doubt, I’ll be using this tool in the season ahead. After all, fish boxes and freezers need to be filled. I suggest you download it too before the State of Alaska bans it.
