When Jane or I talk to a first time visitor we highly recommend flying into Anchorage, getting a rental car, and driving three hours to Kenai. It’s a gorgeous drive that winds around an ocean, through the Chugach mountains, and then parallels the Kenai River to our cabins. We say it’s a three hour drive, but that’s if you don’t stop to take in the scenery. Most do.
The alternative to the drive is taking a 30 minute commuter flight from Anchorage and getting a rental car in Kenai. Our repeat guests that utilize this have made the drive many times. They feel the flight a nice way to get to the peninsula quickly and get a jump on the fishing and other activities in our area.
The choice of airlines has been Grant Air, or Kenai Aviation. That’s about to change.
Starting the summer of 2025, there will be a third option, Aleutian Airways. Having another airline servicing our community is a good thing. More seats, more convenient times, it’s a win/win for all.
