We’re definitely between the runs.
One day we would have decent action. The next day it would be a grind to find the fish. The low numbers definitely kept me on my toes.
On to the weekly recap.
The week started slower than I would have liked. John, Chris, Nathan, and Thomas put 5 silver salmon in the box. Two smaller salmon were released. As you can see, what we lacked in quantity, we made up in quality.
Wednesday, September 1st, the Kenai River silver salmon limit increased to three fish per day. Gary, Larry, and Brian were the only group to catch a boat limit this week. Nice job, guys, nice job…
Thursday morning the weather was nasty. After four silvers, Brian, Larry, and Thomas decided that was good enough. Not a bad decision every thing considered.

Friday was the slowest day of fishing this past week. Not exactly the way I wanted to start out the Labor Day weekend. Brian, Chris, John, and Thomas…it was a fun four days on the river. I’ll see you next year. Hook ‘em horns!
I was really anticipating an active fishing day on the river Saturday. It wasn’t. Great stories and conversation ruled the day. I enjoyed spending time with old friends Mike and Jodie and meeting their friends Bill and Lissa. I have another trip with them coming up this week. I’m really hoping we can improve on our catch totals.
For the week ahead.
Being between the silver salmon runs has made for long days on the river. It’s just a matter of time that the second run will begin to appear and the catch rate will pick up.
Will it be this week?
Come back seven days from now to find out.
Happy Labor Day everyone.
