It’s been a humbling week of guiding.
I spent a lot of time on the river, without a lot fish to show.
But, I was fortunate to have had patient fisherman in my boat who truly understand what it means to go fishing.

The week began with a second trip with Mike, Jodie, Bill and Lissa. The morning started with a decent bite, but slowed as the day wore on. Still, a great day with a great crew.

A new crew the next day experienced the same results. Six silver salmon made it into the net. That’s Mike and Mike in the front row, Jeff and Gary standing in the back.
Here’s Z with the big fish of the week.

On Wednesday, it was Mike, Mike, Jeff, and Gary in the boat again. We hit it hard, and fished in the rain, but were only able to find three fish.

On the third day of fishing with Mike, Mike, Jeff, and Gary, we caught one silver salmon in the morning. With cool temperatures and windy conditions, I encouraged the four of them to take a break and head to Louie’s Restaurant to get a bowl of their famous clam chowder.
We went back out after lunch and had the same success as the morning: one fish. Mike was the lucky angler who caught both fish on this day.
It was only fitting on day 4 of Mike, Mike, Jeff, and Gary that four fish were landed. It would have been nice to find more, but that’s just how it goes. Hey guys, I really enjoyed our time together and I look forward to the next time we do it.
The fishing week ended with a five fish day. You may only see four fish in the photo above, but I took Paul and Gail out later in the day and Gail caught another one. On the left is John and Nancy, on the right is Paul and Gail.
For the week ahead.
It sure felt like we were spinning our tires all week. Yeah, we caught multiple fish everyday, but my expectations were higher. ADFG claims that the second run of silver salmon will peak in the middle of September. I guess we’ll have to see if they’re right.
See you next week.
