During the hustle and bustle of our season, I blog about fishing on the Kenai peninsula. Sure, I’d like to write about other things but I just don’t have the time.
In the offseason, I have plenty of time to share my thoughts and explore topics other than what fish were caught during the week.
That brings me to this week’s blog topic: receiving unexpected gifts from our friends/guests.
Ken and Michelle Kovitch have been regulars at Beaver Creek Cabins & Guide Service for many years. Not only do we appreciate their business, we appreciate their friendship even more.
On their last visit to Alaska, the Kovitch’s came bearing gifts. They weren’t just any gifts, but personalized handcrafted gifts.

Michelle gave Jane a 12” charcuterie board engraved with our logo. How cool is that? The only thing cooler is Michelle actually did all the engraving.

She then gave me two tackle boxes. Awesome! I can never have enough tackle and spoons do catch a lot of fish in Alaska.

I wasn’t expecting this. When I opened the tackle boxes I found custom spoons with our logo and cabin names on them.

We’ve always used Pixie spoons or Kwikfish lures for cabin key fobs and that’s what inspired Michelle to design and produce these. Even though we will use them for this purpose, I know they’ll trick a salmon or two into biting.

I should let all future guests know in advance that if any of these key rings inadvertently travel out of state and aren’t returned, I’m confident that Ken’s detective skills will be able to track you down.
You have been forewarned!
Ken and Michelle, you really didn’t have to do that….but, many, many thanks!

Happy New Year!
