I hope you had an opportunity to see the Blood Moon this past week. I know I did, and it was spectacular.
In other lunar news, large moons mean large tides, and large tides mean it’s time for the dock to go in.

On Tuesday, conditions were perfect to float the dock in place. The highest tide of the month, a 23.34 footer, happened at 5:25am.

My crew was larger than most years, and the extra sets of hands came in handy. Thanks Dan, Dave, Ron, MJ, and of course, Jane. It’s not always fun to put on cold waders/hip boots that early in the morning. Your help was much appreciated.

Upper Cook Inlet has the second highest tides in the world and I’m constantly amazed at the volume of water that is moved. Here’s what the dock and creek looked like at high tide.

And, here’s what the dock and creek looked like hours later when the tide dropped out.
With this task off my spring to-do list it’s time to get the boat ready for the season. Let the fun begin!
