I reached out to friends this week to see if they could help with a much needed dock project. It was short notice, but I desperately needed their assistance.
Every single person showed up.
I’ll repeat that.
Every single person showed up.
I’m a lucky guy.
I’ve always been self sufficient and fiercely independent. To ask for help with the dock was almost as hard as the first time I called a girl to see if she would go out on a date with me.
I needed help because early last season the middle section of the dock sprung a leak. The section needed to be patched or replaced. Since it is large and heavy it required a lot of bodies to move it.

I initially bought a patch kit to fix it, but considering the dock is close to 30 years old, changed my mind and decided to replace the damaged section altogether.
I’m glad I did. After the old dock section was removed and flipped over, it’s clear that replacing it was the right decision.

What I thought would be a small puncture, turned out to be much larger. Based on the teeth marks, the 12” hole was caused by a beaver.
What?
A beaver in Beaver Creek? Who would’ve thunk it….

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your help Ron, MJ, Mack, Charlie, Mike, Boo, Ian, Ross, Dan, Dave, and of course, Jane. You were an awesome crew and this project couldn’t have been done without you.
A special shout-out has to go to Big Will Jahrig. He prepped the old dock the morning before everyone arrived, and was the man main with a plan when it came to installation.
Now I’m ready to go for the season. And not a moment too soon. The monthly high tide cycle happens this week and the dock will be floated into place. Come back next week to see how it goes.

Happy Mother’s Day
