Ever wonder what happens when you misplace your pen? Apparently, every one of them has ended up in my tackle box. Now, if somebody could tell me where the extra socks end up, I’d be eternally grateful.
Holy cow. I keep my tackle box relatively organized, but while doing a deep clean, I couldn’t believe how many pens I found. I swear I only had one. It made me think of the classic Star Trek episode with the ever multiplying Tribbles. One becomes two, which becomes four, which becomes eight, and on and on and on.
As I said, I’m relatively organized. But…..this is what my top compartment looks like. As you can see, it’s just like the household junk drawer. You know the drawer, it’s the place where things that don’t have a place end up. When either are too full to close, it’s time to deal with them. Yeah, it was time…
Keeping with the drawer analogy, my tackle tray boxes are like a silverware drawer. They are neat, organized, and used often.
I happen to have two identical tackle boxes with a top junk drawer. Because I have two, I use one for the king season and the other one for the silver/pink season. I keep quite a few tackle boxes/trays in the boat, but these two are the heart and soul of my fishing operation. They’re always within reach and are the perfect height to place my bait tray on.
The tackle box on the left was from my late friend Chris Simmonds. I use it during the silver/pink season. Every morning as I load Chris’ tackle box in the boat, I’m reminded of a guy I really miss. The Jersey Subs bumper sticker on the top always makes me smile. You see, Chris wasn’t always the best about remembering to bring food when going fishing. When he got hungry, he was faced with the choice of leaving the river to get food, or call Jersey Subs and have them deliver to a boat launch.
