There is no better Scandinavian phrase that describes the silver salmon fishing this past week than uff da.
We started the week off finding two or three silvers a day. At the end of the week, we were shutout on silvers. Sorry Bill and Rodney. I know a couple of haggard pink salmon are not what you expected from this trip to Alaska.
That being said, on to the photos of the lucky anglers who did catch silver salmon.
The ADFG biologists say there are two runs of silver salmon in the Kenai River. Both peaks happen in mid August and mid September. I really hope this past week was just a dip between the runs and not the end of the run. Time will tell.
